Ruling pens are a great way of creating fine lines and detail in watercolour. They are sympathetic to watercolour paper in that they don’t pick the paper surface when in use. The sprung jaws allow for thicker or thinner lines. Use with paint or masking fluid for painting winter trees, fine details, signing your name and so on. Easy to clean too!
How to use.
Mix your paint to whatever strength or colour then drag the brush across the edge of the pen’s jaws. Load about 1cm of paint at a time or it may blob onto your painting. If the pen doesn’t make a mark turn the wheel slightly and retry until the paint begins to flow.
